ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior Wastewater Engineer, you’ll be a recognized subject matter expert, typically acquired through advanced education and work experience. You’ll manage large projects or processes with minimal oversight, mentor junior professionals, and tackle complex engineering challenges. This role involves:
Leading engineering project tasks as a Project Engineer or Senior Engineer with minimal supervision.
Naturalized, passive wastewater treatment design and modelling.
Conceptualizing and developing solutions based on project requirements and company standards through creative problem-solving and triple-bottom-line perspectives.
Aiding in furthering the development and implementation processes that improve MAGNA’s wastewater services to deliver quality outputs.
Monitoring industry trends and implementing appropriate strategies to keep production on the cutting edge while meeting financial goals and providing cost savings to clients.
Collaborating with a high-energy team to challenge traditional wastewater design methods.
Ensuring seamless communication and execution across project teams.
Exhibiting MAGNA’s values of accountability, curiosity, flexibility, and fun.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR…
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation (APEGA and/or BCPEG member).
10+ years of experience, including process engineering and project management support on municipal water/wastewater projects.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally in a team environment.
Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to mentor and support junior team members.
Self-motivated with strong time management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Valid Canadian driver’s license with reliable access to a vehicle.
Eligibility to work in Canada.
PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES WHO HAVE…
A strong understanding of wastewater management best practices and regulations.
Related field work experience.
Experience designing and constructing lift stations.
Experience working with Indigenous communities.
Familiarity with municipal engineering best practices and processes.
Understanding of applicable design standards in Western Canada, including wetland-based wastewater treatment practices,
Experience leading large, multi-disciplinary project teams.
Proficiency in PCSWMM, Biowinn, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and/or GIS.
Strong project management and team leadership skills.
