MAGNA Stormpark®
The wetland on your site is squeezing your land, your levies, and your schedule. We create a design that turns all three back into your favour.
A MAGNA Stormpark® is a stormwater facility that recovers developable land, reduces city levies, and clears the regulatory path. All in one design.
The MAGNA Stormpark®:
Nature working for you
The MAGNA Stormpark® is a nature-based treatment system that uses specially selected media, plants, and the natural microbial processes already at work in healthy ecosystems to treat stormwater. The best part? It becomes a multi-use space for residents and the environment.
What this means for your community
Lower lifecycle costs: By utilizing an easy to access sediment forebay for operations and maintenance.
Keep more developable land: By integrating your stormwater treatment directly into existing wetlands.
Sell lots faster: By creating a showstopping community centerpiece that allows residents to return to nature.

Zero stormwater discharge didn’t stop development
The situation: Qualico® Communities was facing a problem when developing a community in Chestermere. The area didn’t have a stormwater discharge point, which was slowing down development. With discharge planned in the near future, the developer was forced to find a different solution.
How MAGNA helped: MAGNA developed the first MAGNA Stormpark® design, using 2 separate types of constructed wetlands to treat the stormwater to a higher quality. The result was stormwater that could be used to irrigate a nearby agriculture field..
The outcome:
Faster development timelines
Approximately $2m in project cost savings

Creating a community alongside the environment
The situation: Dream Asset Management was seeking an innovative and creative stormwater management facility for its newest development. The design had to preserve the existing wetlands and incorporate the ecosystem into the community design. Dream Asset Management’s ultimate goal was to create an community amenity space that simultaneously protected biodiversity and natural habitat.
How MAGNA helped: MAGNA implemented a MAGNA Stormpark® design that incorporated 2 sediment clarifying forebays, a main pond body, treatment wetlands and a wetland bench that simulated a ravine. The design allows the surrounding community to enjoy the amenity space, while the facility functions as it needs to.
The takeaway: Municipal utility spaces can serve more than one function.
Is a MAGNA Stormpark® right for your development?
If even one of these sounds familiar, it’s worth a conversation.
Your development has high quality wetlands that are slowing down development approvals.
Your concerned that your future community is going to face frequent threat of flood or drought.
You want to build a multi-use space in your development that helps sell lots faster.
You believe in building a community that works alongside the environment, not despite it.
Let's Talk about Your Community
A 20 minute discovery call is the fastest way to find out whether the MAGNA Stormpark® could work for you. There's no deck, no pitch. Just a conversation about your community, your wastewater situation, your constraints, and whether the MAGNA Stormpark® is a good fit.
If it' s not, we'll tell you.
In 2020, Brookfield Residential tasked MAGNA Engineering Services Inc. with designing a stormwater solution for Livingston Pond E Storm Park. MAGNA solutions made it possible to preserve the existing 21-ha wetland facility with significant grade challenges and implement state-of-the-art stormwater management techniques. Despite its challenges, we chose to integrate the natural wetland into our solution…
