ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Intermediate Wastewater Engineer, you’ll apply your advanced expertise—typically acquired through a combination of education and hands-on experience—to lead projects and processes with confidence. You’ll work independently with limited supervision, coach and review the work of junior staff, and navigate occasionally complex engineering challenges.
With a solid foundation of technical proficiency and leadership, you’ll independently manage projects and collaborate across disciplines to deliver forward-thinking solutions.
This role involves:
Managing engineering project tasks with technical proficiency and working independently.
Leading engineering project tasks as a Project Engineer with minimal supervision.
Designing and modelling naturalized, passive wastewater treatment from conception to completion; including site investigations, feasibility studies, design development, permitting, construction oversight, and post-construction monitoring. Conceptualizing and developing solutions based on project requirements and company standards through creative problem-solving and triple-bottom-line perspectives.
Aiding in furthering the development and implementation processes that improve MAGNA’s wastewater services to deliver quality outputs.
Collaborating with other engineers, planners, and government agencies to ensure project compliance and client community needs are met.
Participating in MAGNA’s high-energy, dynamic culture, contributing to innovative projects in stormwater management and other alternative water design services.
Preparing technical reports, design drawings, and presentations to document project findings and recommendations.
Developing creative solutions based on project requirements, company standards, and industry best practices, using simulations and modeling for design analysis.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR…
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation (APEGA and/or BCPEG member).
5 to 10 years of experience, including process and/or wastewater engineering and project management support on municipal water/wastewater projects.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build productive relationships with co-workers and clients, and a desire to mentor and support junior team members.
Self-management of tasks and time.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
A valid Canadian driver’s license and reliable access to a car.
Eligibility to work in Canada.
PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES WHO HAVE…
Strong understanding of wastewater management best practices and regulations.
Experience designing and constructing lift stations.
Experience working with Indigenous communities.
Related field work experience.
Familiarity with municipal engineering best practices and processes.
Proficiency in PCSWMM, Biowinn, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and/or GIS.
Strong project management and team leadership skills.
