This Stormwater Engineer role will include a wide range of tasks that require a self-motivated individual who is comfortable working independently, can prioritize tasks, and has strong organizational skills. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING…

  • Stormwater management modelling and design

  • Conceptualizing and developing solutions based on project requirements and company standards through creative problem solving, triple bottom line perspectives, and simulations/modelling to support design analysis;

  • Aiding in furthering the development and implementation processes that improve MAGNA’s stormwater and wastewater services to deliver quality outputs;

  • Meeting MAGNA’s quality standards, processes, and methods while maintaining a working knowledge of relevant technologies and best practices and upholding federal, provincial, and municipal regulations;

  • Monitoring industry trends and implementing appropriate methods to keep production on the cutting edge while meeting financial goals and providing cost savings to clients;

  • Supporting, training, and educating new and junior colleagues;

  • Acting as a technical liaison between customers, stakeholders, collaborators, and project team members; and

  • Other duties as required.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO…

  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution;

  • Is an APEGA and/or BCPEG member;

  • Has at least 2+ years experience in stormwater (or similar) engineering;

  • Has expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook;

  • Has excellent attention to detail;

  • Has strong personal time management skills;

  • Has strong technical writing and presentation skills;

  • Holds a valid Canadian driver’s license and reliable access to a car;

  • Has their (Alberta) legislated Covid-19 vaccinations up-to-date; and

  • Is eligible to work in Canada.

PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES WHO HAVE…

  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) certification;

  • Strong understanding of stormwater management best practices and regulations;

  • Experience working in the City of Calgary and an understanding of City of Calgary drafting standards and practices;

  • A strong understanding of municipal engineering best practices, processes, and standards in the Calgary Region;

  • Experience working on large multi-disciplinary project teams and can effectively demonstrate team leadership, accountability, and communication;

  • Experience with PCSWMM, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and/or GIS;

  • Experience working with Indigenous communities; and

  • Strong project and task management capabilities alongside proven team leadership and collaboration.
